European Environmental Citizens' Organisation for Standardisation (ECOS) is a pan-European, non-profit organisation, defending the environment in the development of standards and product ecological policies. It has over 40 members across Europe and was founded in 2001.
Mission
editECOS' mission is to influence the development of ambitious strategies aiming to reduce and control sources of environmental pollution, and to promote resource and energy efficiency, environmental health, and sustainable development. ECOS defends environmental interests in the European Standardisation System, especially through contributing with technical expertise in order to evaluate standardisation needs and the standards’ development or revision process. ECOS particularly focuses on standards developed to support EU environmental legislation and policies.
