Edith Annie Jones Berthen (Born in 1877) was one of the first of ten solicitors in England and Wales. She was also formed one of the first all female partnerships with Beatrice Honour Davy as well as being the first woman to qualify in Liverpool as a solicitor.
Early life and education
editShe was born in Rockferry, Cheshire, born to parents Thomas Jones Berthen (a corn merchant) and Lucy Anne Edwards. She received a first class honours degree from London University. In 1923 she qualified as a solicitor
Work
editIn 1924 she started working with Hector Munro at London's East End. In 1927 she went back to HJ Davis the law firm in Liverpool that she had initially trained. ^
