I am Melissa Gustin and I am a PhD student, working on nineteenth century Neoclassical sculpture and specializing in American women sculptors of the middle and late nineteenth century.

My main research subjects are Harriet Hosmer, Emma Stebbins, and Edmonia Lewis. My qualifications include an MA in Art History focusing on Hiram Powers and the nineteenth century.[1] Other interests include nineteenth century classical art receptions, Johann Joachim Winckelmann, Antonio Canova, and the visual environments of Rome.

I have a background in art history, focusing on classical subjects and forms in the Western fine art tradition. Hobbies/skills include knitting, drawing, gardening and banjo playing. I have joined Wikipedia as part of the Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon events and the British Women Artists 1750-1950 British Art Network Sub Group at the University of York.[2]
