Hibiscus taiwanensis is endemic to Taiwan, which distributes in China and low altitude in Taiwan. It is a spieces of plant in Malvaceae[1] family. The form of flower is different from Hibiscus mutabilis[2] in China which is double. It can attract butterflies[3]. [4]

Botany

Hibiscus taiwanensis can grow to 3-5 meters; the leaves are broad ovate to circular,7-10cm long and 6-8 cm broad; simple leaves with long petioles about 10-16cm ; arranged in alternate; subcampanulate corolla, 6-9 in diameter. Bloom season is in August to October ; fruits are formed in November to December. Flowers are white , turning the color into pink during noon and become deeper in the afternoon[5].

Hibiscus mutabilis is a light-demanding plant, which needs lots of sunlight ; it is drought-enduring and able to resistant to pollution and barren soil.

The wood of Hibiscus mutabilis can be made of clogs; petals are edible; roots can be use as medicine[2]
