Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to 2013–14 Sheffield United F.C. season may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Dear IJA, sincere apologies for the misunderstanding but I was referring to the edit of User:Direktor. I am more than happy to participate. I just wanted to be sure the awful appraisal he gave of myself in the DR was not shared by the other users. Thank you for your reply. Silvio1973 (talk) 20:12, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
This looks like a good idea. Of course, on topics like this, neutrality problems are always lurking just around the corner; but there should be plenty of sources to work with. Friendly word of advice re: Pristina

First of all, please don't take this the wrong way as you are, imo, in the right in this whole situation. However, in the future if something like this happens again, I would strongly recommend that you post about it on the adminstrator's noticeboard because even if you are defending the consensus version of the article like you were in this situation, what you did could possibly be considered canvassing. Again, I understand why and this is not a warning or rebuke or anything like that. I'm just saying that because in these kinds of situations, you really want to be absolutely sure there is not a single thing you have done that can, in any way whatsoever, be construed as you violating any rule no matter how trivial because if you do, people will bring it up. It doesn't matter how much in the right you are and how much in the wrong the other person is, even if they broke 1000 serious rules and you accidentally didn't use an edit summary correctly (I'm exaggerating, but the point is still there), you will be portrayed as the guilty party. It stinks, but that is the way the world works (as I'm sure you are already aware, but reminders never hurt :-) ). Thingg 22:21, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

A different sock

Hi,
The IPs like 109.106.231.225, which belong to an ISP in Belgrade, are used by a different sockmaster, who has quite a long history. Not Evlekis, whose IPs usually (not always) geolocated to the UK. The two sockmasters have cooperated. Their interests overlap but they are not exactly the same. I never got round to doing the necessary background research on this particular sockmaster, so I'm wary of naming them. If you have any insights, that would be welcome... bobrayner (talk) 10:48, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations on your ramble. I suggest you actually read the MOS (it's not a policy, btw) that you claim to be familiar with, because it says that "unless they are particularly relevant to the topic of the article, the following are not usually linked...the names of major geographic features and locations." I would say Mali falls into that category, wouldn't you? GiantSnowman 18:25, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members!

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

  • we have an active assessment department. As of now, our project has tagged almost 83,000 pages as Poland-related - that's an improvement of over 3,000 new pages since the last newsletter. Out of which 30 still need a quality assessment, and 2,000, importance assessment. We have done a lot to clear the backlog here (3 years ago those numbers were 1,500 and 20,000, respectively). Can you help assess a few pages?
    • assessing articles is as easy as filling in the class= and importance= parameters on the talk page in the {{WPPOLAND|class=|importance=}} template. See here for a how-to guide.
  • once an article has an assessment template, it will appear in our article alerts and news feed, which provides information on which Poland-related articles are considered for deletion, move, or are undergoing a Good or Featured review. Watchlisting that feed, in addition to watchlisting our project's main page, is a good way to make sure you stay up to date on most Poland-related discussions.
  • you can also see detailed deletion discussions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Poland (which is a good place to watchlist if you just want to stay up to date on possible deletions of Poland-related content)
  • we have also begun B-class quality reviews on our talk page, and if our activity increases, hopefully we will be able to institute our own A-class quality reviews. As of now, we have about 500 C-class articles in need of a B-class review. If you'd like to help with them, instructions for doing B-class reviews are to be found in point 10 of our assessment FAQ. In addition to this automated list, you are also encouraged to help review articles from our B-class reviews requested list found here.
  • also, those articles will be included in our cleanup listing, which allows us to see which top-importance articles are in need for attention, and so on. We have tens of thousands articles in need of cleanup there, so if you ever need something to do, just look at this gigantic list. (I am currently reviewing the articles tagged with notability, either proving them notable or nominating for deletion; there are still several dozens left if you want to help!).
  • did you know that newly created Poland-related articles are listed here. They need to be reviewed, often cleaned-up, occasionally nominated for deletion, and their creators may need to be welcomed and invited to our project if they show promise as new authors of Poland-related content.
  • we are maintaining a Portal:Poland
  • automated Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Popular pages lists the most popular Poland-related pages from the previous month(s)
  • Breaking news: we are looking for a Wikipedian in Residence for the New York City area. See Wikipedia:GLAM/Józef Piłsudski Institute of America for details.

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :)

Template:Largest cities of Kosovo

The following discussion is an archived discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Hi,

I noticed that you reverted another editor at Template:Largest cities of Kosovo (diff). Will you please be so kind what exactly did you meant when you wrote "consistency" in the edit line?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Something to do with pink elephants and green sheep. I think it pretty blatantly obvious what was meant. IJA (talk) 22:47, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
No, I think that has something to do with refusing to answer good faith questions from other editors--Antidiskriminator (talk) 23:18, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Well let me state the obvious for you. Perhaps we should keep the place names consistent in one language until we have a CONSENSUS to do otherwise? Did you really need Sherlock Holmes to work that one out for you Dr Watson? IJA (talk) 23:27, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Name-calling is direct rudeness and violation of Wikipedia:Civility.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 23:37, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
If it offends you so much, then report me to an Admin Dr Watson. IJA (talk) 23:39, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
To what admin?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 23:47, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Any Admin which cares about the so-called "Name-calling". Please feel free to log an incident here at: 'Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents' for my apparent "direct rudeness and violation of Wikipedia:Civility". Regards IJA (talk) 23:55, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Why do you "so called". You did call me Dr. Watson, didn't you?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 00:05, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I did call you Dr Watson, I don't dispute or deny that. However you said that I was 'Name-calling' which is a fallacy. 'Name-calling' = Verbal abuse; insulting language IJA (talk) 00:10, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Is name-calling when you call someone something other than their name with intention to hurt or discredit them or their position?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 12:32, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes it is, but I didn't do that. You don't have a sense of humour do you? I called you Dr Watson (Sherlock Holmes's sidekick) after refering to myself as Sherlock Holmes. Now if you have a problem, go inform an Admin. I will not continue to participate in this bizarre discussion. IJA (talk) 12:54, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Please respect WP:NPA and comment on content, not on the contributor. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 14:17, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
What content am I supposed to comment on when you're making accusations against me? If you think I've violated Wikipedia:Civility and WP:NPA, then go report it at WP:ANI. IJA (talk) 14:51, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
The subject of this discussion was the aforementioned ""consistency" in the edit line". Not "pink elephants and green sheep", not Sherlock Holmes, not Dr Watson nor me. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 16:16, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Then don't make false accusations about me and stick to the content yourself. Also there is no Wikipedia policy or guideline against including humour or sarcasm on the talk pages. If you have any other issues/ concerns, please take it up with WP:ANI as this conversation has now ended and I will be deleting anything else you post in this discussion. IJA (talk) 17:38, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
The above discussion is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Consistency?

You reverted my edit at Template:Largest cities of Kosovo with the edit summary Consistency. I fail to see the consistency in using other names than the target article names. Please explain in the template talk page. Another user opened a discussion there several days ago. Since then, s/he and two other editors have been reverted without anyone taking part in the discussion s/he initiated. Regards! --T*U (talk) 15:28, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

See above. IJA (talk) 22:48, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I do not quite feel that the strange exchange above quite answers my question. --T*U (talk) 08:46, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Livescores and live updates

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I have seen your edits at 2013–14 Sheffield United F.C. season and that live updating are not accepted. Based on Wikipedia policies and guidlines we should not provide livescores and live updates. This based on WP:LIVESCORES and WT:FOOTY consensus at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live scoring and it has also been discussed many more times. This also applies to tables and list such as top goalscorers, squad statistics and other match info, which you can also read about at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Live updates (again). Please wait until matches are finished before adding the statistics. Wikipedia is not for livescoring and should wait for update until sources are updated. Thank you. Wikipedia:Ignore all rules: "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it." Also I do wait until sources are updated. IJA (talk) 09:50, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Concerns

Your insistance on forcing historically inaccurate names into the text of Kosovo football articles is quite disturbing. Furthermore, your violation of WP:Civil is completely uncalled for and says more about you than it does about me. Knowingly inserting pseudohistorical place names is a big no-no. In fact, it's like referring to Titograd in 1965 as Podgorica and writing that the capital of Rhodesia was Harare and not Salisbury. I don't see you making such moves on articles concerning such places, which leads me to believe you are editing Balkan-related topics simply to push an Albanian POV. 23 editor (talk) 19:19, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

There has not been a name change for Gjakova in the English language unlike Podgorica and Harare. Both name have been used historically in the English language. There is no Consensus to use Serbian name pre-2008. IJA (talk) 19:24, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

On the contrary, the entire premise for renaming said articles was that the official name changed post independence (according to your friends, that is). 23 editor (talk) 19:38, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

English language media has certainly preferred Albanian names post 2008. That doesn't mean we can't use them before 2008. IJA (talk) 19:46, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

From Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names): "Within articles, places should generally be referred to by the same name as is used in their article title, or a historic name when discussing a past period. Use of one name for a town in 2000 does not determine what name we should give the same town in 1900 or in 1400, nor the other way around. Many towns, however, should keep the same name; it is a question of fact, of actual English usage, in all cases. For example, when discussing the city now called Istanbul, Wikipedia uses Byzantium in ancient Greece, and Constantinople for the capital of the Byzantine Empire. Similarly, use Stalingrad when discussing the city now called Volgograd in the context of World War II." 23 editor (talk) 19:54, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Stop comparing to cities which have had a name change. This isn't the same. Both names are currently acceptable and both names have historically been used. In Yugoslavian times, the city was called Đakovica in Serbo-Croatian and Gjakova in Albanian. IJA (talk) 20:02, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Albanian wasn't an official language in Yugoslav times, was it? On the contrary, only Serbo-Croatian, Macedonian and Slovene were. 23 editor (talk) 20:08, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

It was in Kosovo during certain periods. Anyway, both names were used historically in the English language. IJA (talk) 20:11, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

How about you put your money where your mouth is and show me some good old-fashioned, reliable English-language proof from...let's say 1990 and earlier. 23 editor (talk) 20:19, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Putting my money where my mouth is IJA (talk) 20:25, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

80% of these books are Albanian. You do realize that? 23 editor (talk) 20:28, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Incorrect, it selects English language books only; that is why it clear says "English" under language. Out of interest, where did you get that 80% figure from? Which part of your mind generated that fake statistic? IJA (talk) 22:35, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
  • In this comment (diff) you emphasized that Gjakova is common name in post 2009 works. Now you contradict yourself.
  • Please don't use Google Ngrams to dispute Đakovica because you know very well that Google Ngrams can not search Đakovica.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:48, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
I do not deny that I said it is the common name post 2009. That doesn't mean we can't use it prior to 2009. Also I didn't use NGram to search "Đakovica". IJA (talk) 22:52, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

@IJA: I don't mean Albanian-language per se. I mean Albanian (authors, nationalists, points-of-view, publications, etc.) In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you pointed me to an article written by Joseph DioGuardi in 1990 and called it "proof" that Albanian variants were commonly used in the English language while Yugoslavia was still intact. Ridiculous. 23 editor (talk) 23:28, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

You've just confirmed that you've lied to me with that response. Thank you. Also if 80% were Albanian, why would someone;s race/ ethnicity change things. I consider that to be racist! IJA (talk) 23:29, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Please stop

Edit-warring on articles such as Aleksandar Tijanić or Ardian Kozniku. Idiotic debates over article titles for cities which have more than one name in several languages are nothing new to Wikipedia (see Gdansk and Danzig or any of about a dozen cities with Croatian/Italian names in Istria), and adding a fresh layer of Balkan bickering hardly helps alleviate the situation. Places in Kosovo have always had Serbian and Albanian variants. During Yugoslavia Serbo-Croatian was the official languages which means the former ones were also used by everyone else in Yugoslavia. And even today in the Republic of Kosovo both languages are official. So where you got the idea that only the Albanian ones should be used is beyond me. Timbouctou (talk) 23:04, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Both names are official and have been official for some time. But we have to abide WP:CommonName in the English Language. IJA (talk) 23:07, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
WP:COMMONNAME is not written in stone and there are many exceptions to this rule. Your edit-warring is pointless. Timbouctou (talk) 23:16, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, your edit warring is obviously superior to my pointless edit warring *sarcasm*. IJA (talk) 23:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
And your own sentence "I do not deny that I said it is the common name post 2009. That doesn't mean we can't use it prior to 2009." fits your edit-warring at Aleksandar Tijanić (1949) or Ardian Kozniku (1967) how? Timbouctou (talk) 23:22, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
I confirmed something, so what? What does their years of birth have to do with the price of cheese? Both names were used historically back then. Per article title! IJA (talk) 23:25, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
If both names were used back then (although Albanian version was not used nearly as commonly as the Serbo-Croat one, nor did it have an equally "official" status), then why do you insist on only the Albanian variant? Timbouctou (talk) 23:33, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
When is "then"? The fact is both names were used back "then" and we should use the most recognisable name so it is easier for the majority of English speakers to understand and recognise when using this encyclopaedia. Not what people from the former Yugoslavia deem to be most recognisable. IJA (talk) 23:37, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
"Then" is 1949 and 1967. But you don't seem to be able to make that connection. Back "then" both names were in use. Maybe several more in fact. But only one variant was used officially in all atlases, charts, publications and documents published in Yugoslavia. And that was the Serbo-Croatian version (the people you are edit-warring over had actual Yugoslav passports issued which only stated S-C names of their birthplaces in it). And arguing that "Gjakova" is recognizable at all to an average English reader is pretty far fetched. This is not Cologne vs. Koln. Timbouctou (talk) 23:43, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm sure several million Albanians do speak English. I'm sure it is more recognizable to them. Is it historically accurate to use Gjakova for an article describing events in, let's say, 1970? Of course not. It's like calling the United States the thirteen Colonies or calling Germany the Third Reich. What sense does it make? 23 editor (talk) 23:45, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

... after you have been warned (diff) you personally attacked another editor (diff). This is only a continuation of similar comments aimed against me (i.e. diff). Please be so kind not to continue with violation of wikipedia policies.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 16:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

You obviously have no idea what a personal attack is. "Ridiculous" is another word for "absurd", which means "unreasonable". Now please stop spamming my talk page with false claims. I'll report you if you continue to harass me. IJA (talk) 17:13, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
You said to other editor: "you're being ridiculous" (diff). That is violation of Wikipedia:No personal attacks.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 17:39, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for proving your ignorance towards the term "personal attack". I said he/ she was being unreasonable after this comment "According to your logic (and your interpretation of WP:CommonName), this article (Srbica/Skenderaj) should have no name." That was a very unreasonable and unhelpful comment. Don't bother responding because I don't care what you have to say and I don't value your opinion. Your harassment and spamming on my talk page is irritating. I will be deleting anything you post on here. IJA (talk) 18:32, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
I noticed that you follow my edits in numerous articles to repeatedly confront or discredit my work or position. Last time was this (diff). Please be so kind to stop.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 16:00, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Re: Your revert

Those graphs are meaningless if we don't know whether Google book scans even supported the š character, which should not be taken as a given with old data in particular.

The Serbian toponym spellings were official at the time and this is indeed quite relevant for the context of the protests - the Serbian language was used in Kosovo despite the Albanian majority population.

--Joy [shallot] (talk) 21:20, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Please re-read what I wrote above; I'm not saying Google Books doesn't support the š character completely. Also, I would like to see this policy - I've never heard of such a thing. I see an external link to the ngram website at the bottom WP:Article titles, but not a single mention of it inline. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:56, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
The stripping of diacritics is not anglicization; "Prishtina" might be... --Joy [shallot] (talk) 09:17, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
I can hardly make sense of that ancient mishmash... I still don't see any real reason for a historical article that literally talks about a period of Serbian hegemony to avoid the Serbian terminology. Similar to how we use the term Constantinople in an article about Byzantium - not because of the ethnicity or local consensus of the inhabitants of the city, but because it's relevant to the context. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:45, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
The key thing to notice in the case of that city is that "Belgrade" is a clearly anglicised name that has been known in mainstream English as the name of the city at the time - heck, just like "Constantinople". On the latter topic, German names, we do actually use that logic in some such articles, e.g. Operation Southeast Croatia. Note also that there's a non-trivial difference between titles of articles and references (and redirects) to articles. Specifically, it's not at all unreasonable to use the term Second Enemy Offensive in an article about the Partisans. Do you see the pattern now? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 18:15, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Look, this is ridiculous. I have never said Google Books does not support š, yet you continue to trot out that straw man! And you're ignoring the glaringly obvious similarity between the ngram graph for Priština and Pristina in the 1990s - we have no way of knowing if it's just a stripped diacritic or someone actually anglicizing. "Pristina" is not an English word, just like "Zagreb" and "Tirana" aren't. This whole line of argument where people pretend that diacritics don't exist and what that really means for the encyclopedia is a long-standing general flamewar / dead horse. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 20:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
The basis for that claim is flimsy at best. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 20:14, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Renaming categories

Hi, when you propose changes to categories, please tag the category pages, as well as starting the discussion. This is essential, as otherwise interested editors would not get an alert about the proposed changes. I have tagged the two that you proposed at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2014 April 10#Category:Kosovska Mitrovica.

If the instructions at WP:CFD are not clear enough for new participants, please tell me which bits need improving. – Fayenatic London 21:46, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Miller and loans

I'm not sure that Miller is necessarily going to be released as claimed - I think he still has a year on his contract and is more likely to be placed on the transfer list or loaned. I may be wrong - the club should be announcing the reteined list today. Also - I dont' think that Davies and Freeman can return to Derby until their season is over, which won't be until after the play offs. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 07:55, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Response plus sandbox articles

Hello, IJA. You have new messages at Bladeboy1889's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

BTW - I was wondering why you'd blanked the new season article in the project sandbox, it was quite mystifying. It was only just now I'd noticed you'd recreated it as a new article which sort of explains why. The idea of the sandbox articles is just to move them into the mainspace rather than recreating them though - it's a lot easier :) Cheers Bladeboy1889 (talk) 15:00, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ian, are you going to be able to come to the Leeds meetup next Saturday, or are you going to be on another one of your crazy holidays? Bazonka (talk) 16:11, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Saturday 14th mate? IJA (talk) 14:06, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
See you there! Bazonka (talk) 17:34, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the headsup. I've been rather inactive recently (actually very inactive not very recently) but am planning to clear up all the bits and pieces which are still hanging around and will be trying to get back into the swing of things. Anyway, as things stand, I seem to be able to get over to Leeds (by train) on Saturday. I'll let you know if there's a hitch. If I turn up, how will I know who is who? Best. --GuillaumeTell 18:03, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

IJA I see that you've been sending messages to a lot of users about the Leeds meetup. It should already be advertised in the form of a WP:Geonotice, displayed at the top of the watchlist. Is that notice not displaying for you? --Redrose64 (talk) 18:55, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi there

I've never really contacted you, so my name's Alex. Those things you've added about attrocities of war are interesting and they happened, I admit. But I wanted to ask you if you're interested in covering Albanian, Bulgarian and Turkish attrocites along with Serbian and Montenegrin. I'm interested in covering both Serbian and Albanian crimes. When war happens, bad things come too. :( Alex discussion 21:05, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

PS If you reply me, please use the {{u}} template, so I could get a note. Regards, Alex discussion 21:06, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

I certainly will be doing mate, if it is history, then we should include it on wikipedia. I'm currently working on Prizren. I've got more to do on WW2 in Prizren first before I move onto something else. But I plan on doing history on all major cities in Kosovo. I'm trying to keep away from the 1990s stuff at the moment. With the Balkan Wars, WW1 and WW2, there is literature and lots of published secondary sources. There isn't many secondary sources on the 1990s stuff as it is still fairly recent and most of it is primary sources, mostly biased news articles from the time. Most of the history of former Yugo on Wiki is mainly on the 1990s, I'm trying to focus on the first half of the 20th Century. IJA (talk) 22:04, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
And as you can see by inclusions to Prizren, I'm not discriminating against any one ethnic group. I've mentioned Serb & Montenegrin atrocities, I've mentioned Serb suffering, I've mentioned Bulgarian atrocities. I've mention how Serbia/ Yugoslavia were invaded in WW1 & 2. I've mentioned about the Albanian Fascist Party in WW2 Kosovo too. IJA (talk) 22:17, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

That's cool. :) What do you think about 'The Death of Yugoslavia' from the BBC? I've watched, and it looks fairly neutral to me. Alex discussion 22:40, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

If you're using a source and you're not sure if it is neutral or not, you can always say something like: "According to the BBC's documentary The Death of Yugoslavia... X Y Z". That way you're not saying it is an undisputed fact, but you're informing our readers/ audience on wikipedia who this is according to. IJA (talk) 22:45, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
With regards to that particular documentary, there are concerns with it due the Serbo-Croatian being subtitled wrong into English. One could argue that the documentary is misleading. IJA (talk) 22:48, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Also the documentary is most certainly a Primary Source as it is from the period (1995). You have to be careful with primary sources because when they were made, things are yet to come to light. They can be premature and not know the full picture yet. IJA (talk) 22:53, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
But feel be WP:BOLD and feel free to use it as a reference, just make sure you inform the readers where your source comes from. P.S. I'm glad you've mentioned 'The Death of Yugoslavia' because it is on youtube and I'm going to watch it/ fall asleep to it in bed now. Good night! IJA (talk) 23:03, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, cool. :) As for falling asleep, I fell asleep yesterday to 'Battlefield S1/E2 - The Battle of Britain' on youtube. It's done after the WW2 and I think this one could be called a secondary source? Alex discussion 10:47, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Octavian Augustus

Why was he called 'Augustus'? I mean what does that mean in Latin (probably)? As I remember, my history teacher had told me that that means something like 'cruel'. And also, why did Kleopatra retreat her ships (60) from the battle? Cheers Alex discussion 15:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Augustus is Latin for the month of August. His real/ birth name "Octavius" is just another way of saying August in Latin when the name is given to a person I think. However I'm pretty sure the month is named after him. I'm not too good on Ancient Roman/ Egyptian history, it is interesting but I've never really studied it academically. When I was at University, I specialised in Modern British & European History. I also did a lot of Medieval Welsh history too as it was compulsory at my University.
