Wikipedia (English)
editMy contributions
editAs I mentioned earlier, I have made hundreds of contributions to Wikipedia. Some of these contributions were minor fixes of grammar, typos and style; others were corrections of factual errors and vandalism; yet more were major contributions of my own. The following are articles that I have made some kind of contribution to (listed from earliest to latest, an emboldened N denotes a page that I created):
- Still Game
- Miss Susie
- Partick station
- Motherwell F.C.
- 2009–10 Scottish First Division
- 2009–10 Scottish Second Division
- 2009–10 Scottish Third Division
- Stirling
- 2009–10 Scottish Cup
- 2009–10 Scottish Premier League
- Motherwell F.C. season 2009–10
- Rangers F.C. season 2009–10
- Scottish Premier League
- Hamilton Academical F.C. season 2009–10 (N)
- Kilmarnock F.C. season 2009–10 (N)
My watched articles
editAlthough I am always open to criticism and will often allow changes to my uploaded material to go completely unquestioned, there are a few of my contributions which were particularly time-consuming. As a result, I am likely to ask why these contributions have been altered when this happens. These are:
- Partick station
- Motherwell F.C.
- Motherwell F.C. season 2009–10
- Hamilton Academical F.C. season 2009–10
I do realise that since this is a user-based project that it is not up to me what is in and what is out. I just don't like surprises. If you want to update any of these articles, obviously feel free, however if it is my work that you are altering, I would appreciate it if you written to my talk page to tell me why you changed it.
What I would like to do
editOne of my pet hates on Wikipedia is inconsistency of layout. I often come across entries which are for the same type of item, but which have completely different formats. One example of this is current season pages for football clubs. If I had all the time in the world, I would change every single one of them to follow the same basic format. Unfortunately, I haven't got all the time in the world. However, if you too would like to change this, give me a mail and we can discuss what we are going to do. After all, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts where Wikipedia is concerned.
Wikipædia (Scots)
editI have only made a few contribution to the Scots language wikipedia. However, spurred on by my patriotism, I do intend to try to vastly expand the number of articles available either by a straight translation from the English language Wikipedia or by unique contributions to the Scots language. If there are any other Scottish people out there with a decent grasp of Scots who would like to help me with this massive task, again I would love it if you could give me a mail and we could discuss how to go about it.
Since the first writing of this section, I have increased the number of articles available and am now in the process of expanding my created articles. I am currently writing in the region of 20 or so paragraphs per day. Hopefully, I can have a few relatively large articles completed soon. Check out the work!

What I would like to do
editI have found that a major problem which permeates the Scots language Wikipedia is spelling errors. As Scots is not taught in schools, many people don't understand that Scots is a different language altogether from English and they make contributions which are based upon how they would speak. Although this sometime produces correct Scots, the vast majority of the time it does not. The first major task would be to go through many of the current articles and correct spelling mistakes. This is, admittedly, a rather boring task, but a necessary one which I intend on undertaking in the very near future.
