This is a user page, for notes about cleanup work related to an IP user who mass-removes names from biography articles. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1017#Name-removing disruptive user from St. Petersburg

Most often they remove the name from the beginning of the "Early life" or "Biography" sections, changing from "Jane Doe was born in" to "Was born in". They also remove names from photo captions. A few times they have added a line saying e.g. "Wis in 12 april 1961." They seem to have been active for about a year, see the two edits on August 22, exactly one year apart, to Marat Basharov, but became very active only in October/November 2018.

In a number of cases the edits are in close proximity to edits to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" articles, e.g. [1], but it's not clear if it's the same person.

    • Special:Contributions/78.37.160.0/20 (October 2018 - August 2019) blocked for one month 19 August 2019
      • All edits in the /16 seem to be restricted to this /20. See 13-26 April 2019 for some strange crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle edits.
      • All cleaned as of 26 August.
  • Special:Contributions/91.122.0.0/16
  • Special:Contributions/92.100.0.0/16
  • Special:Contributions/92.101.0.0/16
  • Special:Contributions/178.66.0.0/16
    • Thousands of edits about Indian films etc. All history checked, only found in these two ranges:
    • Special:Contributions/178.66.64.0/20 (November 2018, January, March, May, and June 2019)
      • Not many, done.
    • Special:Contributions/178.66.208.0/20 (January, February, July and August 2019)
      • Not many here, finished cleaning up as of 26 August. Special:Contributions/178.66.212.11 seems to indicate them maybe being the same as the one editing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Biker Mice, New World Animation, etc. Those edits go back to mid-2018. The indian film editor shows up a few times in this range.
  • Special:Contributions/178.67.0.0/16 - all checked and repaired as of 27 August 2019
  • Special:Contributions/178.70.0.0/16 - all checked and repaired as of 21 August 2019
    • Special:Contributions/178.70.16.0/20 (August 2019) - (178.70.16.0 - 178.70.31.255) blocked for one month 19 August 2019
      • Seems to go as far back as one edit in November 2016: [2], though the next obvious one here is not until February 2018: [3]. In November 2016, edits to "animated series" and "video games" sections start, often with cast credits added. I think this is a different person though. Edits in the range start in 2013, with someone editing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Twilight Zone, etc. There's one edit to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2014:[4]. In July 2017 there are edits to several articles about models that they come back to later and remove the name from. This in April 2019 seems to show them being the same as the Ninja Turtles editor: Special:Contributions/178.70.28.51. Edits on 25 April seem to show that they are not the same as the video games actor credits editor.
    • Special:Contributions/178.70.32.0/20 (July 2019)
      • One in October 2016: [5], but not again until July 2017: [6]. There are a few more until they begin in earnest in December 2018. Edits to models in March-July 2017, similar to above. Edits here start also in 2013, with changes to episode numbers and titles of animated series, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. On 3 May 2019, there are name removals at 11am from one IP, and Ninja Turtles at 11:50 from another, suggesting that they're not the same person, if IP changes take place around 9am; see also 25 April. But then no... see Special:Contributions/178.70.28.51 on 24 April, name removals at 8am and 10:45, Turtles at 11, then name removals again at 18:24. And Special:Contributions/178.70.24.47 shows a crossover with Biker Mice from Mars. Another crossover, though several hours apart, Special:Contributions/178.70.25.105 with New World Pictures. On August 11 & 13, there are a bunch of edits from an Android mobile, about war stuff, a different person.
    • Special:Contributions/178.70.64.0/20 (December 2018 - June 2019)
      • Nothing recognizable in here until four edits in December, then four more on 27 March 2019 by Special:Contributions/178.70.64.10, followed a few hours later by some Spiderman etc. edits from the same IP, though it might have passed to someone else - seems to switch in the morning. Then more edits in March, April, a couple in June, and one "Wis in 17 July" on that date along with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle one from the same IP.
    • Special:Contributions/178.70.160.0/20 (July 23 August 2019) blocked for one month 24 August 2019
      • 2013 edits changing numbers in animated series episodes, Spiderman. Then nothing recognizable until one name removal in February 2018, then more edits to Iron Man etc. in May, and a voice actor in August. Numerous name removals start in November/December 2018, plus animated series, and continue until the present. Only two edits to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, on 5 May, with name removals some hours earlier. Could have been an IP change.
    • Special:Contributions/178.70.208.0/20 (February 2019)
      • Crazy vandalism to Woody Woodpecker stuff in 2015 & 2016, unlikely related. Otherwise nothing until animated series in August/September 2018, one name removal on 22 November at 8am followed by Ninja Turtles at 10am again. Then numerous name changes December 2018 - Feburary 2019. A few animated series in March, April, and June.

The articles edited by the following IPs (all those found in 78.37.160.0/20, 91.122.0.0/16 (91.122.96.0/20 and 91.122.176.0/20) have been checked and fixed as of 27 August 2019.
