Singing Ministry of HCCS Singing Ministry is the official choir of the Holy Cross College of Sasa. The Singing Ministries primary goal is to serve God through music. The choir's primary purpose is to sing in church events in school but the singing ministry also involves in singing outside the Holy Cross College of Sasa Campus they also involves in the events at the Teresian Daughters of Mary. Which is the religious group who runs the school under the Archdiocese of Davao. The Singing Ministry joins competition during the Advent Season to gain its popularity and to be well know in the community. Recently the choir members which is aged 11-14 won the Pasko Fiesta 2010 Children's Choir Edition at Champions Place. While the choir members aged 15-17 won the 1st place in the Youth Choir Edition at Pasko Fiesta 2010.
The choir is headed by their choir master Mr. Vincent Verano. With its assistant choir master Ms. Marie Gestopa. Both of them involves in the training of the choir every month. The choir recently is separated in 3 group which is the Singing Ministry Group A composed of the old members 14 of them all in that group. Singing Ministry Group B composed of new members from the auditions during June 2010 this group is composed of 14 members. And the Singing Ministry Group C which is composed of 20 members. The Singing Ministry Group A is leaded by Ms. Gestopa together with their group leader Ms. Silva. The Singing Ministry B is leaded by Mr. Verano together with their group leader Mr. Aniceto. The Singing Ministry C is leaded still by the Mr. Verano together with Ms. Peralta.
The singing ministry is composed of boys and girls aged between 11 - 17. Which voice range are Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Base. Commonly the girls belong to the Soprano or Alto voice. And the boys are in the Tenor or Base voice. But boys who had not pass yet puberty has a high range of voice so he belong to the Soprano voice. The choir is popular in bringing a unique and distinctive sound which their audience like.
Auditions to those who are interested in joining the choir is done during June in every school year. Each new member undergoes a one month training for their voice to be familiar in what voice range they will partake. Singing Ministry is still open for new members to join the choir.
