A Video section and an Artists Profiles section.

In 2014 the website was named among the top five websites in Zambia for design, creativity, responsiveness and uniqueness, in an online vote at afrofire.com.[4]

Most of its traffic comes from Zambia: Alexa Internet ranked the site 85th in Zambia, and 236,335 globally as of June 2016.[2]

History

edit

The website was launched on 10 May 2011 by Philip Mutika, who maintained it as a personal blog site. The website was brought down in 2012 due to high traffic when it shared a link to Mampi's song. The website was later reopened in 2013 on a new domain zambianmusicblog.co (without the final "m" on the end of the URL). After reopening on a new domain the website returned its status after they posted JK's song "Paduze". JK shared the link to his song from the website, and two months later it got its original status back.[5]

In 2015 Petersen Zagaze e-mailed the website asking that they remove all of his music content from the website, one month to the release of his King Solomon album.[6]

Awards

edit
  • 2014 ZeeMusic Award nominee for the "Best Zed Music Blog"[7]
  • 2017 - Zee Music Creative Awards won for Best Music Blog[8][9][10]
