Founder (Frank Baird)
Frank Baird first founded the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® in 2001 in order to raise awareness and hopes to put an end to rape, sexual assault and gender violence, by having men, women, and children all participate in a march. The main purpose why this march was created was because Frank Baird wanted people to think differently or have a new perspective about tradition gender roles, relationship and the violence against genders, so that for every person that had a change in perspective, there would be one less person who would suffer from a possible assault, rape, or violence. Frank said that not only women are hurt when they are sexually assaulted, but also the many men that are in their lives are too. These men are affected or even hurt emotionally as well when the women they love and care about are raped, and that it makes it very difficult for men to build new relationships with women who were previously assaulted due to them having such a traumatic experience happen to them. But it does not stop there, basically anyone with any relation with the victim are affect as well. Frank believes that by coming up with this march, it allows men, women, and the community to really talk about these important issues, and allows for people to show their support towards this cause.[1] Frank Baird has also formed “Venture Humanity, Inc” in 2007. This is a non-profit corporation that strives to develop violence prevention, community projects, ect.[2]
