Who? Filmmaker, cinephile, writer, Baron of Sealand and the soi-disant bastard child of sesquipedalianism, magniloquence, loquaciousness, and verbal prolix, my personality is summed up rather appropriately, and quite comprehensively, in the anagram of my name: "a loony nerd", an appellation which surely attests to the efficient prescience of my forebears.
I'm an Irish film student living variously in Cork, where I was born, and Galway, where I attend University. Graduating from teenage years of cinephilia, I somewhat casually came to found a film production company Freiherr Films, eventually realising that I rather liked this filmmaking lark. My current production, Absolutely Bananas, documents my ongoing attempt to break a Guinness World Record, and the related human phenomenon of desiring to be the best. (I am now pleased to report that I have managed to break the record, which is good news for the documentary)
A longtime fan of the written word, I elected to combine my penchant for literary expatiation of opinion with my love of film when I began to submit reviews to the Internet Movie Database in January 2010. Building something of a portfolio for myself since then, I have risen to the rank of "prolific author". In May 2011 I began writing for Toronto-based film site Next Projection, focusing on the horror genre.
I used to be rather active here, but slowed due to real world commitments, and now mostly oversee maintenance of articles on my watchlist, occasionally taking on some heavier tasks. Pages pertaining to Iron Maiden are the almost-exclusive recipients of my contemporary editing contributions.
