Aurel Schmidt (born 1982) is an Artist based in New York.
Schmidt was born in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. She makes detailed drawings of surreal figures, combining tiny illustrations of flies, insects, condoms, cigarette butts and other detritus to create the larger image. She uses a mixture of pencil, colored pencil, paint, blood, beer and semen to create her images.
She has exhibited in galleries such as Deitch Projects in New York, Peres Projects in Los Angeles, Deste Foundation Center for Contemporary Art in Athens and was included in the 2010 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
