The User
editThis User account was created by, and for the use of, persons who were formerly (until 2011/11/06) editing select English Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikiquote pages as IP accounts, exclusively from New York Public Library (NYPL) WAN IP addresses in range 65.88.88.x.
The IPs utilized were mainly 65.88.88.126/.127 but also .173/.200/.214. Other IP addresses in the same range were also used occasionally (including, but not limited to, 65.88.88.4x/.6x/.7x etc.).
The team intends to continue editing solely through this account. From this day (2011/11/07) we bear, and will accept, no responsibility for any other edits anywhere, if done as IP accounts from said range.
Note to Checkusers: the underlying IPs for this account name will continue to utilize the same NYPL WAN IP range. In the unlikely case of account edits by IPs outside the range, we will explicitly reveal the underlying IP and/or other information in some manner.
Projects
editThe persons now using this account started editing as a team in 2009, initially concentrating on page Jiddu Krishnamurti which remains the main project for this account. However one team editor was sporadically editing the same page as early as 2007. Progressively, the project was expanded to include other existing pages related to Jiddu Krishnamurti, and the creation of new related pages.
As of 6 November 2011, the team's activities were as follows:
- Created and/or authored and/or rewrote and/or contributed (major) and and/or edited (major) the pages
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (main project) Currently in dispute, see Talk:Jiddu Krishnamurti
- At the Feet of the Master
- Choiceless awareness
- Commentaries on Living
- Freedom from the Known
- Jiddu Krishnamurti bibliography
- Krishnamurti (WP:Anthroponymy page)
- Krishnamurti: The Years of Awakening
- Krishnamurti: The Years of Fulfilment
- Krishnamurti's Journal
- Krishnamurti's Notebook
- Krishnamurti to Himself
- List of works about Jiddu Krishnamurti
- Order of the Star in the East
- The First and Last Freedom
- Additional pages not directly related to Jiddu Krishnamurti where we have done major work and are still active
- Presently not active but still monitored
- Abandoned
- Theosophy (major rewrite started 2011/06, abandoned 2011/8)
Additionally, English Wikimedia Foundation projects (mainly Wikipedia, but also Wikimedia Commons, Wikiquote and Wikisource) were (and will continue to be) regularly searched for references to Jiddu Krishnamurti, and such references may be edited for accuracy, neutrality, or presentation.
Any other new projects undertaken will be announced in this section.
Procedural
edit1. We do not work on anything that we are even remotely associated with, other than in strictly personal, private interest.
We are not affiliated with any official or unofficial Krishnamurti entities. We are not members of any Krishnamurti group. We don't personally know any other people interested in Krishnamurti or his philosophy. This applies to the subject matter of all other pages listed above. Further, as long as this project continues, we have no desire to get involved or be acquainted with anyone or with any organization connected to the subject matter of the articles. Editorial integrity is compromised otherwise.
We have no opinion on Krishnamurti's philosophy or personality. Two members of our group find both interesting on a personal level. A third member is simply not interested in him or his philosophy at all. The whole group has no personal interest in Theosophy, Mysticism, Occultism, Religion, Philosophy, Atheism, Spirituality, Rationalism, Secularism etc.
2. We believe Wikipedia registration encourages excess familiarity among Users. Inevitably this gives Wikipedia the character of a social medium of like-minded hobbyists, to the detriment of fairness and content quality. Other than when it is unavoidable, we are going to continue an arms-length relationship with other Users and with the Institution. We believe that the administrative and editorial integrity of Wikipedia is being gradually and progressively compromised by the unintended effects of registration and of long-term involvement with other registered Users. This was the main reason for not registering until now.
