About Me

edit

Hi, I'm ipino, (born June 10, 1978 in Acireale, Italy), and I'm not an actor or a fashion designer; I'm just an Italian guy with passion for informatics stuff and trance music. And of course for hot chicks.

I live in Acireale, in Sicily, but I'm not part of any Mafia organization... yet.

I've installed the MediaWiki software on my local Web server and I use it to store any kind of information, from lyrics to stuff related to my FAQs to whatever.
I admit that many little things in my wiki (called appopriately WikIpino) are taken from en.wikipedia: from there I learn how to create templates, how to use tags to my advantage and so forth.

I could also sign up to the Simple English wiki but I don't think I'd ever contribute - I'm a serious lurker.

As of January 2007, I've resumed studying the Russian language box on the right and why I've bumped the level of understanding from 0 to 1. More on this later.

Unfortunately in mid 2007 my friend Simone brought me to the world of mmorpgs which sucked me in for a couple of years.

Skills

edit

Most of my so-called skills are listed on the right boxes. I consider myself a pretty expert programmer and coder in most modern web languages and programming languages.

The very first programming language I learned was BASIC on a Commodore 64, then I switched to an Amiga 500 in 1993 (and subsequently on a A1200 in 1994) where I learned AREXX, C and a bit of E.

When I bought a PC in late 1997 I expanded my C knowledges and added all other languages you see in the box, C++ (thus object oriented programming), and all scripting and scripted languages like PHP, mIRC Script, Perl, TCL, and the like. I never cared about Java or Visual Basic, infact, I hate VB! If that can be said here, of course, otherwise read it as "I don't like Visual Basic at all".

FAQs

edit

I like to write, speak and especially to listen to English; often, I tend to think in English rather than Italian, and it's weird when you think of something that would be easier to say in English and you have to mentally "translate it" into Italian in order to let people understand you... or not. Maybe I'm just crazy and I should be put in a brig with the key thrown far away; maybe on Neptune or Vulcan for that matter.

Due do this passion sometimes I like to write FAQs/Walkthroughs for some particular games that I like more than others. To date, I've written only two walkthroughs

Both are available at my site and GameFAQs.

Music

edit

The music genres I like to listen to are mostly derived from electronic music, though of course I do listen to other genres from time to time. But basically, trance is a constant in my daily listening. The father of a friend of mine described it as "boom boom", and that's how we call it from then. Other genres I love are Chill out, Ambient, and Progressive (mostly progressive trance)

When I had the Amiga 1200 as my primary computer I used to create mods with the aid of Octamed 4 (and later Octamed Sound Studio; there was the full version on an Aminet Set CD). When I moved to the PC, I kept tracking with Scream Tracker 3 and Impulse Tracker on DOS and ModPlug Tracker on Windows, but I started to lose interest in tracking and I haven't tracked anything since year 2000 by now.

I used to upload my modules at traxinspace.com, an old website that focused on bringing together musicians like me with a great looking site and a powerful search engine in order to achieve a quality website to host modules, comments about them, write reviews (I used to be a novice reviewer in the last few months of its life) and the like. It was shut down for (to me of course) unknown reasons

Russian

edit

In the Summer 2006 I began to learn the Russian language using online-available resouces only. As of January 2007 I've resumed, after having gathered enough material to study; now I think I could easily sunstain a basic conversation, something among the lines of "excuse me, where's the toilet? how are you? My name is ipino, yours? I want to eat. I listen to trance music"...
