Ben Thompson (UK) (born 12 August 1982, in Burnley) is a northern bred and born journalist and television presenter, who has been working for the BBC last 12 years; starting his careers in Broadcast Journalism at BBC Radio Wales & current working in the Middle East where he claims the title as the tallest member of the Middle East Business Report team.
Background
editThompson was educated at Ecole supérieure de Commerce de Bretagne, Brest in France during 2001 – 2001 where he spent one year studying International Business & French, he then went onto completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University in 2003.
Career
editThompson has spent most of his career with the BBC, in June 1999 he joined the team at BBC Radio Wales as a part-time Broadcast Journalist during his stint at University. After finishing university in 2003, he made the leap to prime time journalism with a coveted spot on the production desk at BBC Breakfast and BBC World News in London in the role of Producer.
In March 2008 he joined the BBC World News Team in Dubai working on the Middle East Business Report as a Reporter & Presenter covering the Middle East and North Africa where he worked under [Bowen]
His Dubai career highlighted include an eight minute red carpet moment with [Minogue] at the opening of the Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, in November 2009 he covered the ‘Dubai World Debt Crisis’ with a series of live television and radio interviews over a 48 hour period and in 2010 he covered opening of the worlds tallest hotel the Burk Khalifa

editThe he the tallest member of the Reporting Team and at 6ft 6 - he's particularly useful in media scrums and at press conferences.
