SV Lazarus is a Formosa 41 originally named "Tamure" and washed ashore in Massachussets during hurricane Robert of 1991. After being refit she sailed as Lazarus, and went 30,000 miles around the world between 1992 and 1995. The voyage of Lazarus was the only verified complete circumnavigation of sailing vessel with a democratic crew and no captain or authority structure. This runs counter to the organizational structure of all manner of ships, due to the need to make fast and informed decisions in the face of natural forces.
