Oxford Nanopore is a UK based company developing nanopore sequencing methods. Their main offices are in Oxford, with satellite offices in Cambridge, New York and Boston. Founded by by Gordon Sanghera, Spike Willcocks and Hagan Bayley, Oxford Nanopore was spun out from University of Oxford in 2005.
In 2008 Oxford Nanopore licensed technology from Harvard, UCSC and other universities [1].
They have announced plans to release two sequencing platforms: GridION and MinION.
In total £105.4 million has been raised through seven rounds of funding[2].
