J. Dianne Dotson is an American science fiction and fantasy writer and science writer. She is best known for her first published novel, Heliopause: The Questrison Saga: Book One.
Early life, education, and early career
editDotson was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. She later moved to Gray, Tennessee, where she spent much of her childhood. As a young child, she regularly wrote stories and illustrated them. She formed her own neighborhood astronomy club at age 10 to educate her friends about the universe. Dotson developed her skills in writing and illustration through constant inspiration from her rural setting. Dotson enjoyed reading science fiction and fantasy novels, as well as historical fiction, and books on nature and astronomy.
Dotson received a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology, with a zoology major, from the University of Tennessee in 1996.
In the years following her graduation, Dotson worked in both laboratory and clinical research. In 2006, she became a science and content writer. Dotson also volunteers in her spare time.
