Catherine Robinson was an educator, civil rights activist, and actress from Providence, Rhode Island. She was inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame in 1975.[1]
She was assistant director of the University of Rhode Island Extension Service. She received an honorary doctorate from Rhode Island College for her work in education.[2] Robinson was also an actress. In addition to appearing in Rhode Island theater, Robinson starred in a local-access television show about homemaking, "How It Is," in the late 1970s.[3] She founded a black theater troupe, the Scitimard Players, in the 1930s.[2] As a resident of the East Side neighborhood of Providence, Robinson also helped form the East Side Neighborhood Council.
