As you asked...
I'm a thirty-something currently based in York, England, where I live with my wife and two dogs. I'm originally from near Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. I'm an academic philosopher, currently working at Loughborough University, where I am a Lecturer in Political Philosophy (roughly equivilent to an assistant professor in North America) in the Department of International Relations, Politics, and History. I was educated at Lancaster University and Queen's University Belfast, and I've also worked at (the unrelated) Queen's University in Canada, the University of York, and the University of Sheffield. My work is mostly in applied (analytic) moral and political philosophy, especially relating to animal ethics. I've published two books: Just Fodder: The Ethics of Feeding Animals in 2022, and Food, Justice, and Animals: Feeding the World Respectfully in 2023. If you're interested in my research, you can take a look at my personal website, my Academia.edu page, or email me.
At the moment, most of my time is given over to my academic work and related activities. To unwind, I contribute to Wikipedia, watch TV, and play video games. Newer hobbies include (vegetable) gardening and spending time with my dogs. Older hobbies, which I share with my partner, include bird watching, mushroom hunting, and general "amateur naturalism". We've no real expertise or impressive equipment, but the great thing about hobbies is that it doesn't matter so much if you're not very good at them. I used to play a lot of pen and paper and live-action role-playing games, but don't really have the time any more. I read a lot, including audiobooks. Horror, classic literature, and nature writing of various kinds are my go-tos.
I'm on Instagram, Twitter/X, and Bluesky, where you're very welcome to follow me. Bluesky and Twitter I use mostly for professional purposes; Instagram is more mixed. (I'm also on Facebook, but don't normally accept friend requests from people I don't know. Sorry!)
