I was born in the United States of America. Reading has always been my main pastime. As a child, I spent many hours reading The World Book Encyclopedia, researching things that interested me, but more often just reading random articles. I found it fascinating and still do, although I use Wikipedia now.
In deciding what to read next, I get quite a few ideas from The New York Times Book Review -- particularly in the crime fiction genre, for which I have long relied on Marilyn Stasio's column.
When a book really captures me, I find myself wanting to write about it. This seems to enhance my appreciation and helps me better understand the book. It led me to create my first Wikipedia article, regarding Graham Joyce's novel Some Kind of Fairy Tale. I've edited a number of other pages.
