Ram Swarup Gupta - Freedom Fighter

Freedom Fighter of Farrukhabad District, U.P.

Early Life - Late Ram Swarup Gupta S/O Late Heera Lal and Late Smt. Ladyati Devi was born in November 1906 in a small village named Raukari, PS Kampil, tehsil - Kaimganj, district Farrukhabad, U.P. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and a well known freedom fighter of Farrukhabad district U.P.

Career - He raised the voice against social discrimination prevails in the society. He also opposed the exploitation of the peasents by Jamindars. He was a well known social reformer and freedom fighter of the district. He was very active throughout his life in the politics of Farrukhabad district. He was elected as a member of District Board Farrukhabad in 1950 by defeating Thakur Bhupal Singh of Tiyur Barkhera of Kaimganj Tehsil. He was remain member of the District Board Farrukhabad from 1950 to 1963.

He also actively participated in Quit India Movement in 1942. He was underwent imprisonment three times during Satyagrah / Protesting against the British rule in 1941, 1942 and 1944.

Award -He was awarded for his great contribution to the cause of the freedom of the nation in 1973 by TAMRAPATRA by the Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi. Late Ram Swarup died on November 21, 1983 at Kanpur at the residence of his son Dr. Jai Prakash Gupta.
