Bernard S. Mason Dr. Bernard Sterling Mason was an authority on Indian dancing, crafts, and lore as well as woodcraft and camping. He received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University where he also taught. His philosophical approach laid the foundation of values and meaning to the American Camping Movement. He wrote a survival manual for the U. S. Air Force and developed a course in camping and wilderness living. Dr. Mason was a longtime resident of Cincinnati, Ohio where he founded the Wasaka Boys Club. He was one of the earliest directors of Camp Kooch-I-Ching near International Falls, Minnesota where he laid the foundation for the camping and Indian Dancing programs. He wrote many books on the subjects of the American Indian, woodcraft and camping.
