An indigene of Tombia community, Hon. Dr Farah Dagogo was elected as the representative of Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in Rivers State for the People's Democratic Party, Hon. Dr Farah Dagogo (born October 29th, 1982). Prior to this he served as a lawmaker in the Rivers State House.

Background

Before entering politics, Hon. Dr Farah Dagogo was formally a MEND field commander, operating in resistance to the government due to persistent inequalities in the Oil Rich Niger Delta, before surrendering his weapons and accepting a government amnesty on August 6th 2009.

Political career

Hon. Dr Dagogo was elected to the Nigerian National House of Representatives in the general election of 2019 and was inaugurated on the 29th May 2019.

Previously, he served as a lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly Representing Degema Constituency. Here he chaired the House committee on Education, focusing on bills supporting the diversification of Rivers State University subject focus, enhancing its capacity and improving university access for the state. He has also led legislative efforts to increase domestic and international funding for College access across the state whilst undertaking work on ensuring proper financial oversight of the state's education expenditure. Furthermore, due to the issues of environmental degradation in his home state, in particular oil spillages, Hon. Dr Dagogo is an active climate change campaigner.

When focusing upon poverty alleviation, Hon. Dr Dagogo has been active particularly in the up-skilling of widows/widowers, also exploring efforts to support school fees and education access in low income households.
