I'm getting a PhD in environmental engineering in Austin, TX. I'm a very avid reader of philosophy and political science texts, and in my spare time I contribute here.

My research is focused on titanium dioxide doped sensors and titanium dioxide doped solar panels. The sensors are electrodes made of sol-gel manufactured carbide and lightly doped with nanostructured titanium dioxide films. The sensors are able to detect several neurotransmitters, like dopamine, and also phenols, which are toxic to humans. This is exciting work, because we may be able to fashion these sensors to detect neurotransmitters on the fly, enabling for a faster, more accurate diagnosis by psychiatrists. The solar panel part is interesting too; basically titanium dioxide is replaced for silicon at the nano-crystal level. The doping results in higher power generation per area of silicon.
