Jay Anthony King III was born in Orville, CA January 27, 1962. Although he was born in Orville CA [1] he was raised mostly in Sacramento Del Paso Heights [2] area and Vallejo CA[[3]]. The son of a city worker (Jay King) and Registered Nurse (Helen Ruth "Peaches" Bridges), he came from humble beginnings. Jays parents instilled in him solid character, strong work ethic and the streets instilled in him a fighting spirit and entrepreneurial mindset. Jay eventually took his street smarts and became one of the pioneers to change the Music Industry. Jay became the first artist to go independent and also formed his own music label called Jay Records. Jay opened the door for other artist to follow in his footsteps. Jay fought the odds on his climb to success.

Jay would go on to form a local dance troop called Close Encounters of the Funkiest Kind. Jay discovered he had a love of music and performing. He credits his mother for being the driving force for his success. Jay has three children Jay IV, John and Jordan King https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raODdKgcXYU who's mother Niki Haris[[4]]is the famed American actress, dancer, and powerhouse singer of Pop, R&B, Dance Music and Jazz, perhaps best known for having been one of Madonna's[[5]] background vocalists.

In 1985 after his military service Jay went back to the Bay Area CA[[6]] and connected with a local group called the Timex Social Club[[7]]. His record label took off and was responsible for his first smash single Rumors by his then group Timex Social Club[[8]]. Rumors single went on to become the biggest selling single of 1986 selling 3.5 million copies. It was the #1 R&B single on the Billboard Charts, and top 10 single on the Billboard Pop charts. Rumors lasted an astounding total of over 56 weeks on the charts. Also in the same year Jay negotiated a production deal with Warner Brothers[[9]] Records for the release of the first Club Nouveau single - Jealousy and album titled Life, Love & Pain. Jealousy climbed to #8 on the Billboard R&B charts. The smash hit Lean on me also from the Life, Love & Pain album climbed to #1 on Billboard Pop chart[[10]], reached to #2 on Billboards R&B chart[[11]], went platinum and won a Grammy[[12]] for R&B song of the year. That success was followed by Situation #9 which reached to #9 on Billboards R&B[[13]].

Jay not the one to stay idle for any length of time in 1987 also produced Club Nouveau[[14]] single Step by Step on Madonnas[[15]] successful Who's that Girl multi platinum soundtrack. He also negotiated a 2nd label/production deal with BMG records and signed 3 acts one of which was Theresa King. Her single Last Time which was written and produced by Jay climbed to #15 on the Billboard R&B chart[[16]].

To keep his string of successes going Jay in 1988 also released the second Club Nouveau[[17]] album - Listen to the Message. The first single off this album title Its a Cold Cold World climbed to #25 on Billboards R&B charts[[18]]. Its was also written and produced by Jay. In that same year he also was able to negotiate a recording deal with Warner Brothers Records for another notable bay area artist by the name of Chante Moore[[19]]. In 1988 Jay King also manages to produce the 1st Vanilla Ice[[20]] record. Shortly after Vanilla Ice[[21]] explosive single Ice Ice baby was launched. In the midst of singing, writing, and producing, Jay also managed to secure a deal with EMI records for the 1988 release of artist Miki Bleu.

To solidify his Midas touch in 1989 Club Nouveau[[22]] released their album Under a Nouveau Groove with the single You aint no friend of mine which would climb to #12 on the Billboard R&B chart[[23]]. In 1992 keeping in the pioneering spirit he secured another deal for Club Nouveau[[24]] and also established the Independent Label Coalition(ILC) which would manage, oversee and negotiate all aspects of business for independent label artists.

In addition to running a network and label, Jay is currently managing such notable talent as Cameo[[25]] (Word Up, Candy, Shake Your Pants), and Karyn White[[26]] (Super Woman, The Way You Love Me), creating Karyn White’s KWE and negotiating distribution deals in the U.S.[[27]], Japan[[28]] and South Africa[[29]] so far). Jay has written a book series entitled ‘Passport to the Music Business’—publications that simplify the music business for laymen. The book breaks into categories the Music Industry. Each book is specific to a subject such as: ‘Everything Distribution’, ‘Everything Publishing’ and soon to be released – ‘Everything Royalties’. He is presently working doing performance dates with Club Nouveau[[30]] and promoting his second Solo CD Helen's Son which is already climbing the charts in the UK[[31]].

Jay continues to support his community through various charity events, attending town hall meetings with the Mayor and City Councilmen. He also does a morning radio talk show "Kings in the morning" Monday thru Friday from 8 to 10am PST on www.thejaykingnetwork.com or can be watched on the Periscope App under the name jaktre, He's also an on air radio personality doing a drive time radio show playing classic R&B music at 97.5fm or you can watch him on Periscope under Jaktre in Sacramento[[32]], Tuesday thru Thursday 3-7pm pst.
