I am a PR person right from the childhood. Born at Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Studied at Bhusawal /Chalisgaon/Nasik Road-( Purushottam English School,Nasik Road and then at Nasik Road College)/Settled at Pune.Originally from Dapoli (Konkan) and Wai (Satara)
Since my father is EX-Rly.Officer, travelled all over India twice a year.'Pakka Khavaiyya’. Interested in all type of recipes from Kerala to Jammu and Kolkata to Ahemadabad. Preferred PR person.for all sweets and deserts all over India!
Started earning at the age of 15at Nasik Road(though my family background was financially good)During 1971-1973 I was working with Daily Gavakari as Business Manager.Also started Interviewig many artists for Gavari,weekly gavakari ,Amrut.
Sometime for marketing /salesmanship /Medical Representative /Journalist /Business Manager /Advertising Manager .For Own Advertising Set-up and now having own PR outfit...all this for creating & maintaining relationship in 'Happiest city of the world'-Pune,Maharashtra ,india
It was late Shri Babubhai Rathi,Ex Chairman of FACCI,who encouraged me to try for new opportunities on better platforms like Pune in 1973,and I left Nasik for searching new opportunities. It was Shri Datta Saraf,my mentor (Ex Editor- Gavakari)who encouraged me come on Pune's bigger platform to join Kirloskar Press as a Head of Circulation/Advertising. Here I started meeting many people like Businessmen and Industrialists.
It was sometime in 1974.I was just 24 and sitting in front of 74 year old Bidi Manufacturer Late Shankarrao Thakur. We were just chatting on various subjects from Politics, business to advertising and what not! And suddenly he whispered- you are wasting your life .I said, sorry uncle, anything wrong with me? He said, god has blessed you with communication skills, smartness, then why are you working for some other? Why not does something for yourself ?
I said uncle I do not have any background, portfolio, money, vehicle, or references—who will part business to me?
He said irrespective of all these things, you can do it! You have very good willpower, ability to work hard. Come-on lets start something, I will offer you jobs. Just tell me how are you planning your life.
This was a great turning point in my life and started my own advertising agency, which lasted for 17 years in partnership. Again there were few opportunities signaling for new areas like Public Relations, Interviews, and Articles.
It was second turning point in my life when a renowned Industrialist called me and said, you are a writer, you are good communicator; please help me in communicating the media in the area where he was erecting a huge plant. And I accepted the challenge and started visiting that town away from my place (around 600kms)-once in 20 days. This helped me to enter in media relations.
Also I started writing articles. till today interviewed more than 1000 people, mostly entrepreneurs. Authored 4 books. And now 5th one is underway.
About Nasik Nasik is totally changing with the Industrial development around Satpur/Ambad/Sinnar. Now the college Road is flooded with fast food centres including McDonalds ,Pizza etc. Big Bazar has a presence.
Nasik known for Grapes ,will be known for Wine city as French people have already started visiting Nasik.City of Kumbha Mela ,City of Currency Note Press ,City of Ramayana ,City of Bhasaka Military School and also city of Temple of Merry with Jisus will be on the global map with grape wine.
