My name's Michael (Micke) Östlund and I'm a 53 years old (born 1959) music collector. I used to work as a reporter (journalist, music editor and amateur photographer) at a local newspaper in my hometown Växjö, in Sweden. I have also worked at a local cultural house (an 85 years old "former" cinema). Since late September 2010 I'm offically unemployed but I have been doing voluntarily work in a secondhand store until late March 2012. My main occupation was to sort out and put prices on books and records.
Here's an example of an article made by me, published on June 4, 2007 (in Swedish):
My main interest is music orginating from the San Fransisco Bay Área but I'm also a big fan of modern jazz, from the bebop era to electro jazz of the new millenium. Other music genres I like to listen to includes electronica and roots music, such as american hillbilly, rhythm 'n' blues, rockabilly, blues and western swing. Classic rock and various american jambands are also among the various musical styles I prefer.
My ten all time favorites are:
- Grateful Dead (since November, 1978)
- Yello (since Fall, 1985)
- Creedence Clearwater Revival (since January, 1971)
- Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush (since Fall, 1979)
- Quicksilver Messenger Service (since June, 1978)
- The Allman Brothers Band (since circa 1980)
- Redbone (since circa 1972)
- Charles Mingus (since circa 1989/90)
- Led Zeppelin (since Fall, 1974)
- Hawkwind (since early to mid 1990's)
