JD Sparks is a Magistrate and Justice of the Peace in Oldham County, Kentucky. He is the magistrate for the 5th District of Oldham County. He is a Marine Veteran who served in the US Marines from 1986 to 1990 with an honorable discharge after his 4 year enlistment. A long time Republican supporter and resident of Oldham County. He was supported in his first political campaign by Scott O’Grady (hero shot down in Bosnia and featured on the cover of Time magazine). JD was nominated in 2008 as an Alternate Delegate to the GOP National Convention by the Kentucky Republican party. He has served as Precinct Captain, 4th District Resolutions Committee member representing Oldham County and Legislative District Chair for the Jefferson County Republican Party in the last few years. He has received several recognitions from the GOP and before returning to Oldham County (while living abroad) served as the National Voter Registration officer for the Republicans Abroad in Japan. He is a graduate of local leadership programs such as Leadership Oldham County, Oldham County Police Citizen’s Academy, LaGrange Police Citizen’s Academy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Citizen’s Academy in Jefferson County. He is a United States Marine Veteran and is still active as a nationally recognized newsletter editor for his Marine Corps League Detachment in Kentucky. He is a on the Marine Corps League’s national newsletter committee making him a national officer in the organization. He works with the United Way in reviewing programs and funding for Oldham County and surrounding areas, has worked on committees for the Red Cross, KIDS Center for Cerebral Palsy, the National Rifle Association (where he is the past regional contact for their legislative efforts “EVC”) and several other local and national groups. He works in the finance industry, as Executive Vice President, where he assists publicly traded firms with SEC filings and Public Relations. His company works to bring new business opportunities to the region and has been recognized in recent years as a “Best Small Business” in the Incredible Awards and as a “High Impact Company” by Louisville Chamber of Commerce (GLI). He has two of the largest networking groups (Greater Louisville Networking and Semper Fi Network) on the business site Linkedin and works to support the growth of business in the area. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Business Administration (BBA) and minor in Asian and Asian American Studies and Jefferson Community College with an AAS in Commercial Photography, JD lives in Pewee Valley with his wife Yuko and two sons (Manabu and Kenta).
