Who developed the Jefferson Notation System

edit

You'll see a certain variety of notation symbols in Conversation Analysis (CA), but the great majority will be based on what is often called the "Jefferson system" after its developer, the late Gail Jefferson.

There is a comprehensive account in Atkinson and Heritage, and more abbreviated accounts in the books by Hutchby and Wooffitt, and Ten Have [1] --Jeffersonian.Notation (talk) 13:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Millie Dredge--Jeffersonian.Notation (talk) 13:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Jefferson and other users of notation use it to analyse social interaction in-talk. Notation has been used by Charles Goodwin and John Heritage, Features of talk are made available for analysis through transcription that deliberately and methodically seek to record taken for granted features of social interaction.
