JenniferChicago, from Chicago, Illinois, grew up on the northside of city of Chicago during the 1970s through to the 1990s. I produce and manage genealogy reports for myself and others. I manage my own website, and have done so since 1997. I specialize in research or are familiar with doing research in the following areas; USA, Quebec (Quebecois),Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Galicia, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Wales, Sweden, Norway, Mennonites, Anabaptists, Immigration beginning in 1830s to U.S., Galena, Illinois History and related family histories, Saranac Lake, New York, Platteville, Wisconsin, Bear Valley-Oakhurst-Long Beach-Indio-Yosemite Valley, California, Denton County, Texas, WWI, U.S. Civil War, Battle of Waterloo (soldiers who served), dating photographs, Tree Studio artists, Chicago academy of Art (merged with Art Institute of Chicago), Historical figures in Illinois and Wisconsin. All Illinois and Wisconsin state histories.
Attended University of Illinois Chicago, with BA in Architectural History, Art History, History of Urban Planning and design, History of city planning. Interned at house museum in Chicago (John Jacob Glessner House Museum), worked on recording all books in regular collection, and entering data into ms access, edited their database by adding location of book in large library to help with finding individual books. I created location recording info by bookcase #, and then by shlef #, for example; 2-4, 2 bookcase, 4th shelf from top. Before this someone would have to look through all bookcases and shelves to locate a book, the books were not in topic based groups like they would be in library.
I've given tours of Chicago Architecture to groups of foreign visitors working with my mother, whose is currently a retired language teacher (speaks; Spanish, French, some German, Italian, some Swedish). She is a linguist.
