I'm Jerome Wiley Segovia. I'm a web developer who has been informally extolling the virtues of Wikipedia for several years. My main philosophy regarding Wikipedia is that the longer one maintains a semi-active account, the more authority accrues to said account. In wading into a situation where several contributors will have to make a decision about the inclusion or exclusion of a given section of content, for example, editors with older accounts may be perceived to have more authority than anonymous users or editors with day-old accounts.
I gained my interest in Wikipedia almost at the start of the project, using its resources in 2001 or 2002, and creating and editing entries very early on. It was not a long reach, having created the first departmental web page for the Hanover College history department in 1993, and helping to guide and tutor Hanover students in their first internet steps between 1993 and 1996, when I was a senior member of the various computer labs on campus.
Currently, I'm seeking to take my Wikipedia knowledge to the next level, and I'm searching for a group of local Wikipedians (DC area) who meet regularly to enhance their editing skills. Also, fellow Wikipedians: avoid the use of the third person in your user pages!
I currently live in Jefferson County, Indiana, where my paternal grandfather, Harvey W. Wiley was born in 1844. I have also lived in Florida, the national capital region (Virginia, DC, Maryland) and Paraguay, where my maternal grandfather, es:Desiderio Segovia Montania was from.
