Tom Barker (born 1977) is a software engineer, solutions architect and technical manager with over a decade of experience working with ActionScript, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, and the Microsoft .Net Framework[ref 1]. Currently he is a Manager of Web Development at Comcast Interactive Media. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Philadelphia University where he has been teaching undergrad and graduate courses on web development since 2003. Tom is also a contributing author for insideRIA[ref 2] and a technical reviewer for APress.
Work in Higher Education
editIn August of 2003 he began teaching at Philadelphia University. His years with the University consisted of teaching two undergraduate courses in web development for the Digital Design and Media Department: Web Production and Interactive Production. He soon began authoring and teaching classes for the graduate department of Digital Design and Media, as well as for the MS Instructional Technology department. Those classes consisted of: Scripting Languages, Database Design and Scripting, Advanced JavaScript and Advanced ActionScript/Flex
In addition to teaching classes at the University, Barker has also served on the Master's Thesis Committee.
