Seven or eight percent of the male population is red/green colorblind. Games that don't take colorblindness into consideration not only lose a significant source of funding, but also make the game difficult and frustrating for these people to play.
This page has been created to help these people avoid games that will likely aggravate them.
1. League of Legends (Riot Games): The game has excellent graphics and good game balance. Character could best be classified as strong for the short game, mid game, or long game and teams should take this into consideration when choosing champions. As with most games, players who can target other players faster have a distinct advantage.
Riot uses green for allies and red for enemies and worse yet uses the same color intensity thereby making it virtually impossible to quickly distinguish friend from foe for people with red/green colorblindness. Because of this when a new player enters the screen the colorblind player is severely disadvantaged. To get the drop on the other player the colorblind player would have to use his "ultimate" (spell/ability) before friend/foe recognition. Thus, the "ultimate" is often wasted.
Also, because of the need to overly concentrate on differentiating friends from foes it is difficult to keep up with the team's conversation, which is critical to success.
The color scheme continues on the mini-map. While everyone else is able to efficiently use it to pinpoint players, colorblind people will struggle with it.
Not all red/green colorblind people have the same allele, so it is possible that some red/green colorblind people may be able to differentiate the colors to some extent, but some delay would still exist.
