The California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, commonly referred to as CPYO, is a non-profit youth orchestra located in Saratoga, California.
Philharmonic Orchestra
editCPYO orchestra is divided into 2 separate ensembles - Associate and Senior. The Associate group consists of members from grades 4th thru 8th. The Senior members mainly consist of high school and college students.
Tours
edit- In June 2009, Season 2, the Senior group toured New York and performed at Carnegie Hall
- In June 2010, Season 3, the Associate group performed at the Los Angeles International Music Festival
Concerts and Benefit Concerts
edit- In 2008 CPYO performed at California Theater with professional musician Melvin Chen, who performed
both the Paganini violin concerto and the Rachmaninoff piano concerto in the same evening.
- CPYO performed a Benefit Concert in New York for PSALT and IMPACT, two non-profit organizations working to help starving North Korean children
- In June 2008, CPYO working with Dimension Performing Arts performed in the Quake Relief for Sichuan's Children Benefit Concert which raised $85,000
- CPYO performed for the Virginia Tech Peace Scholarship Benefit Concert
- In December 2008, The CPYO Associate group performed at the Rincon Garden Center for the benefit of elderly community center
