Quick Access Popup (QAP) is a free Windows launcher developed by Jean Lalonde. Its allows to easily build a popup menu containing user's favorite folders, documents, applications, bookmarks, FTP sites, snippets of text, etc. This menu can be open over any window with a mouse button or a keyboard shortcut.
QAP works on all international versions of Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10 and 11, both client and server versions. It can change folders in Windows Explorer windows, File Dialog Boxes (Open, Save As, etc.), Console Window (CMD command prompt and PowerShell), Directory Opus, Total Commander and many other popular alternative file managers.
Quick Access Popup can be installed with an executable installation program or used in portable mode (from a ZIP file). It is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean and Chinese. Some translations are incomplete.
Main Features
editEach favorite folder, document, application, etc. can be launched from the popup menu. The favorites can also be open with a hotkey or a hotstring (short text trigger). Favorites can be grouped in menus and submenus at will. Each submenu can be open directly with its own hotkey or hotstring.
Under the In the works main menu, submenus generated automatically contain the lists of most recently accessed folders and files, and of most frequently used folders and files. The Special Folders contains most popular Windows system folder (like My Computer, Downloads, Recycle Bin) and more can be added from a list of 50 special folders. The My QAP Features give access to other features grouped grouped by categories like Dynamic Menus, QAP Menu Editing, Window Management and Windows Features.
More advanced features like Groups, Macro Snippets and Placeholders allow to automate recurring tasks. Shared menus allow different users to use common submenus saved on a shared cloud or network folder.
Reception
editThe software review site MajorGeeks emphasized Quick Access Popup's user-friendly interface making setup extremely easy. As of October 2021, site users granted a 5/5 rating to the software.[1]
Quick Access Popup was awarded four out of five stars by Softpedia in the category OS Enhancements[2]. As of October 2021, site users granted a 4.8/5 rating to the software.
History
editFolders Popup
editThis software was first released under the name Folders Popup in Octobre 2013[3]. It was first designed to open folders, inspired by the AutoHotkey script DirMenu shared by Robert Ryan who was maybe inspired by other scripts from Savage's FavoriteFolders or Rexx's version Folder Menu.
