Founded as a coffeehouse by Patrick Daly. Popular with members of the Parliament of Ireland, who funded a new clubhouse next door to the Irish Houses of Parliament. It declined after the Acts of Union 1800 abolished the Parliament, being eclipsed by the Kildare Street Club.
