John Boyadjian Canadian artist, John Boyadjian, was born in Egypt and moved to Lebanon until his eventual immigration to Canada in 1984. Sketching and painting since early childhood, Boyadjian’s talent and love for the arts is truly undeniable. His thriving art practice takes on traditional mediums and subjects. Specializing in painting and drawing portraits, landscapes, flowers and still life. Boyadjian has a keen eye for natural forms, colors and composition. The work of Boyadjian captivates the beauty of subjects he paints and brings it to life on canvas.
He began selling his work through curating private exhibitions. As his work became increasingly known, Boyadjian’s career as a self-made artist flourished. He worked solemnly with oil paints at the beginning of his career with subjects such as nudes and flowers in a dark palette consisting of earth tones. Boyadjian worked with several well-known galleries in Montreal including Galerie Klimantiris, Galerie D’Art Richelieu, Shayne Gallery, and Galerie Michel-Ange, some of which still carry his work. Boyadjian’s work has also been featured in private and public collections across Canada, the United States, Europe and Beijing. After securing a strong clientele and creating a stable art career, Boyadjian began to travel often to Cuba where the change of scenery served as a source of inspiration in his new work. Concentrating on subjects like ocean views and landscapes, a brighter and more joyful color palette was introduced. Boyadjian is a completely self-taught artist with the natural ability to produce from observation while integrating his unique and creative eye for colour and movement in each piece. He currently continues to work with oil paint, palette knife, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and pencil. Boyadjian has an appreciation for color and light which translates through his work where he uses bold, striking colors and high contrast. Within his work, there lives an emotional intensity and passion that can captivate any audience. Needless to say, his subjects interest the eye, his color grasps attention and his brushstrokesexert expression.
