Personal observations
editSince creating my Wikipedia account in 2014, I have not found this website to be very conducive to collaboration. I think it would be nice if more Wikipedia editors familiarized themselves with Wikipedia's own policies on verifiability and notability, rather than judge edits based on their own personal knowledge (or lack thereof) on a subject. These fundamental problems have been noted since at least 2009,[1] and yet deletionism is still the ruling philosophy of the site.
I do appreciate other Wikimedia projects (like Wikidata) which take a more level-headed approach, and will likely focus my efforts on those sites going forward.
Things Wikipedia clearly should work on:
- Strategy:Attracting and retaining participants
- Wikipedia:Why is Wikipedia losing contributors - Thinking about remedies
