Richard Morthland (born November 10, 1959) is currently serving on the Rock Island County Board. He is also a candidate for State Representative in Illinois' 71st District. He will be facing Democratic nominee Dennis Ahern in the November 2, 2010 general election.

editRichard Morthland is a farmer, college professor, and County Board member in Rock Island County, Illinois. He resides on his farm with his wife Betsey who he has been married to for 30 years. Rich has his BA in Communications from St. Ambrose University, a master’s degree in a Communication-related field earned in Denver, Colorado.[1]
Political positions
editMorthland can be described as a conservative Republican. He opposed the Rock Island County Board's controversial pay raises.[2] He is also opposed to the creation of new taxes in Illinois and an increase of any income taxes.[3]
