Dr. Hassan Gimba is a Nigerian journalist, philanthropist[1], and publisher of Neptune Prime[2]. He is recognized for his contributions to both media and community development[3][4].
Background
editHassan Gimba was born on April 9, 1964, in Kaduna, Nigeria. He completed his early education at Shehu Garbai School, Maiduguri, in 1977, followed by Government College, Maiduguri, where he obtained his General Certificate of Education in 1982. Gimba furthered his education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria[5]. His dedication to journalism earned him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to the field[6].

editHassan Gimba is a Nigerian journalist who began his career in 1991 by founding The Pointer newspaper. He later worked at Today and became Northeast Bureau Chief for Daily Monitor in 1996. Gimba established The Informant and Mafaɗi, bilingual newspapers promoting developmental journalism in northeastern Nigeria[7]. In 2008, he launched Pen Watch and later served as Managing Editor at Leadership newspaper[8]. In 2017, he founded Neptune Prime. Gimba’s philanthropic work includes commissioning the first Cervical Cancer Clinic in Potiskum and founding the Hafsatu Gimba Ahmed Memorial School[9][10][11]. He has been recognized for his contributions to journalism receiving an award of excellence by Zuma Times[12].
