Shaya Alwaqian شايع الوقيان is a Saudi Philosopher.
He is a weekly writer in ( Okaz ) Newspapers of Saudi Arabia. His articles deal with philosophical, scientific and critical issues, and some of them relate to political and social issues. He contributed in founding Riyadh Philosophical Circle and He is still an active member therein. This Circle is the first philosophical activity in Saudi Arabia where philosophy is still forbidden due to religious reasons. He participated in lectures and symposiums in the Literary Club in Riyadh.
His writings focus on analyzing the relationships between philosophy and art in the light of the development of both later represented in the so-called postmodern movement. He argues that the artistic language might supply the philosophical discourse with more techniques and devices by which it can overcome many dilemmas and obstacles bequeathed from both traditional and modern philosophical arguments.
