Region Builders new article content ...

Region Builders is an association of businesses focused on advancing regional economic growth[1] in the greater Sacramento region.

History

edit

Originally founded as the Political Action Committee arm of the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange in January 2011. Region Builders became a separate not-for-profit association in July 2012.

Accomplishments

edit

Region Builders was the first business organization to endorse Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson in his election bid to unseat incumbent Mayor Heather Fargo in 2004. The organization's Executive Director Joshua Wood filed the FPPC complaint that unveiled Chris Hansen's laundering of funds to the anti-arena STOP campaign[2].

Political Stances

edit

Minimum Wage Region Builders opposes a proposal to increase the Sacramento City minimum wage to $15 per hour. The organization pledged to launch a ballot measure campaign with a "reasonable alternative" for voters [3][4][5][6][7].

Permit Simplicity Region Builders modified the City of Phoenix's Self-Certification program to launch Permit simplicity. Permit Simplicity is a program that allows certified architects and engineers to submit plans and receive permits in 24 hours.[8] The program was approved by the City of Elk Grove[9] and City of Rancho Cordova[10][11].

Streetcar Region Builders is a supporter of the Sacramento Streetcar project, which is a 3.3 mile trolley systems connecting West Sacramento, Downtown Sacramento, and Midtown Sacramento.[12].
