Jimmy Duggan   A top National Hunt jockey in the UK in the 1980's to mid 1990's. 

Born in Hillingdon, London, on August 9th, 1964, Jimmy was a regular weighing room companion of John Francome, Peter Scudamore, Steve Smith-Eccles, Mark Dwyer and Richard Dunwoody.

He started his apprenticeship with Roger Fisher and then Fred Winter, MBE. His first ride was on October 22nd, 1979 and his first winner was in a point-to-point on 10th February, 1980. His first winner as a fully-fledged jockey came at Leopardstown on Killeenyarda in February 1982.

In his heyday, he stood at 5ft 8" and weighed in at anything between 10 and 11stone "depending on the occasion". His best season was 1984/5 when he partnered 30 winners and in total, he booted home a total of 311 career winners, many of which will readily come to mind to many racegoers.

His most memorable association was with with Aonoch, whom he partnered to 14 wins, beating triple Champion Hurdle winner See You Then in the Sandeman Aintree Hurdle.

Currently, Jimmy is very busy flying with horses around the world, a job which has taken him to 42 countries so far ! His ambitions for the future include getting a commercial pilots license and then "starting my own charter business and I would also want to train when I grow up (5-6 yrs time)".
