Neu-Woerr is a wetland area located in the middle of the Upper Rhine Valley (~lat. 48.975°N, lon. 8.221°E), at the border between the towns of Lauterbourg (most northern location of Alsace, France) and Neuburg am Rhein (most southern location of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).

Neu-Woerr is an open area dedicated to transdisciplinary action-oriented research focusing on wetlands as socio-ecosystems: this includes long term monitoring of biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, land use, trajectories and management. This research is co-constructed with land managers and stakeholders, and aims at providing evidence-based support for operational decision making and gouvernance for sustainable nature conservation.

Neu-Woerr is part of the Long Term Study in Ecology and Evolution (SEE-Life) Programme of CNRS. SEE-Life Neu-Woerr is led by Dr Jean-Yves Georges (Institut pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien, CNRS UMR7178, Strasbourg, France) and Pr Kathrin Theissinger (Kassel University-Kassel Institute for Sustainability, Germany).

Neu-Woerr land management is led by Collectivité européenne d'Alsace and Office National des Forêts, and by Kreisverwaltung Germersheim, on the FR and DE sides, respectively.
