Asta Wickman (Gothenburg 26 April 1895 - Stockholm 4 February 1983) was a Swedish translator.
Biography
editWickman was born to a merchant family in Gothenburg. As a child, she started learning Russian from a friend. During her studies in the 1930s, she translated from German, English and French as well, but soon devoted herself fully to Russian. Her first publication, a collection of short stories Ryskt, appeared in 1945. It included texts by Vsevolod Garshin and Leonid Andreyev. It was her work on Russian short stories that
