History
editThe territory of Nevada was established in 1861. [4] It held its first constitutional convention on November 2nd, 1863. Nevada designed its constitution much like that of California. [5] Nevada finally became a state on October 31st, 1864. It became a state because not only did Americans find gold and silver in Comstock Lode, but also because of the increasing pressure of secession before the American Civil War. [6]
