editI've always been interested in music, and learning about different musical instruments. Which is why when I was a kid I was in the school band. When I was learning about instruments I learned how they were grouped. Instruments are grouped in families, three families are the string family, reed family, and the percussion family.
The string family, contains instruments that have strings which are bowed or plucked to make a sound. An example of a string instrument is the violin or guitar. The violin is famous for being played by many musicians, and it is know worldwide.
The clarinet is one of the older instruments and an example of a reed instrument. Reed instruments are instruments that have a reed in them that you blow and it makes a sound. Instead of a string vibrating, the reed vibrates.
Percussion instruments are some of the older instruments. They are instruments like the drum, xylophone, and piano. Where you hit it and it makes a sound. Drums are also one of the oldest instruments around older than the clarinet. Piano's might surprise you that they are percussion instruments since they contain strings. It may contain strings but those strings hit hammers making it a percussion instrument..
