Back in the prehistory of the wikipedia I created the first stubs of a few articles, Gorgeous George, Haystacks Calhoun, and Paul Anderson. I'm not even that interested in wrestling or power lifting. It was a casual thing back when putting an article in the wikipedia was easy and anonymous and I had tried to look these people up when I happened to vaguely remember people I'd seen on TV or in newsreels back in the 50s and, since there was nothing in the wikipedia, on impulse put in something myself. I say it's the prehistory because when I look at the current history I can't go back to my original edits. I do see a sentence here and there that I remember putting in those articles though. For instance, I actually remember seeing a newsreel of Paul Edward Anderson in a movie theater, showing him in Russia, and remember hearing the announcer calling him a 'ball of a man', so I put that in my Anderson article. Since then, somebody must have had access to the actual newsreel because they were able to quote a whole passage, and knew the announcer was Bud Palmer. (But they took out the part about how the newsreel showed the Russians 'gaping in amazement', which image also left quite an impression on me.)
