My name is Kayla Blackburn and I am currently a nursing major at the University of Pikeville. Helping people is something I love doing so I figure why not make money at the same time? I have such a big heart when it comes to helping not only people but animals too. I am a true animal lover and I treat my two cats, Rambo and Scooter, and two dogs, Jazzy and Dinky, like they are my children. They sleep inside and eat two meals a day just like I do. Sometimes people make fun of me for the way I am over my animals, but I don’t care because God put them on this earth to be treated right and respected, not abused and neglected. Not only that, but when I don’t have no one else I know my animals are there to love me because that’s all animals know is how to love.
I live in a small town where Walmart is the coolest place to hang out and everyone knows everyone. I am a true country girl who loves to have fun. If its warm outside you can bet I am outside getting into something. If I am not outside, I am somewhere hanging out with my best friend and partner in crime, Karra Brewer. I absolutely love to go fishing, hunting, and camping anytime of the year. I don’t care to get my hands dirty or work outside, I can do anything a man can do and probably better is the way I look at life.
Although, I do live with the man of my dreams, Chris Coleman, and he does all the hard work so I don’t have to. He’s the old fashion type of guy that believes the lady takes care of the house and the cooking, and the man takes care of the outside and works to support the family. I’m all right with that because I know my way around a kitchen pretty well, and I don’t mind being taken care of and treated like a lady.
I live just a few houses down from my mother, who gave me the house I am living in right now. I couldn’t ask for a better role model or mother. My whole life she has struggled to give me everything I have ever asked for and to be both my dad and my mom since my father wasn’t really in the picture. She is the strongest and most giving person I know and would help a stranger if she had the means. I don’t know what I would do without her and I hope that I am every bit the women she is one day. Since my dad hasn’t really been there for me my uncle and my older brother try to step in and be there for me. I wouldn’t trade those two just to have my real dad. My older brother, Nathan, is 11 years older than me and would protect me from the world if he could.
That’s my life in a nutshell.

Me and Technology
editI am quite technologically savvy, and I can do just about anything with a computer. There isn’t a computer game or program that I cannot use or figure out. However, I do not like Macs because they are a little trickier than PCs. Although, I do like all other Apple products, such as iPads, iPods, and iPhones. I own all three of them and my favorite is my iPhone. It is such a handy thing to own. There isn’t anything you can’t do with one. It has iMessage that works off of Wi-Fi so you can text without service, there is Facetime, which allows you to see others in real time, and you can’t forget about Siri. Siri can do anything you tell her to do and will even have a full conversation with you if you so desire. There are other phones out there that have some cool aspects too but they are overly big or bulky. The iPhone is just the all around perfect phone.
My technology knowledge usually stops when it comes to gaming systems. I do, however, know a few things about the Xbox and Wii though. I know about these not from playing them myself but from watching my boyfriend, brother, and cousins. I do not like gaming and that’s why I have no interest in game systems.
I am one of those of people that older people make fun of because my phone never leaves my hands for more than a few minutes. I have separation anxiety from my phone if I don’t have it near by for quick checks of Facebook, texts, and Snapchats. I am a social butterfly, and I have to keep up with what everyone is doing and messaging/texting my friends back. My iPhone is by far one of my most prized possessions. Try to take it from me and you will find out just how prized it is.
Wikipedia, What's That?
editI first encountered Wikipedia when I was Googling some research for a paper about the arctic fox I had to write in the 4th grade. I thought I had hit the jackpot. That one webpage had all the information I could possibly need for my short informative essay. I read through and picked out all the interesting facts and incorporated them into my paper, I even used some pictures from the page too. The next day I happily turned it in because I knew that was an easy A. A couple weeks later I received my paper and I had received a C; my very first C. I asked the teacher why my paper was graded so low and she said it was because I had cited Wikipedia. She told me that that cite was not good information and that I should have found my research elsewhere because anyone can put information on it.
From then until now I have never used Wikipedia for information again. I have been afraid of the information being wrong because that is what all teachers have taught me. I had an experience using Wikipedia that scarred me from using it until now. Now that I have been more educated about using Wikipedia I can confidently use it to aid my research and the development of my papers. It is a convenient source with loads of information on just about every topic you could think of and if there isn’t a page about it you could create one.
